Orchid – a fashionable plant
Increasingly, orchids are the preferred gift on many occasions. The reason is that our homes are full of these exotic and beautiful plants, but we often fail to take care of them . Orchids, although they don’t need a lot of water, do need care to grow healthy.
Its state of health can be recognized, in particular, by the appearance of the orchid leaves , which should be shiny, beautifully light green and fleshy.
How to get healthy and strong leaves
To stay healthy and strong, orchid leaves must be cleaned at certain intervals. In fact, as with all surfaces, thick layers of dust can also form on its leaves . If dust remains on the orchid leaf for a long time, it can lead to the development of diseases, including those that are not visible to the naked eye, but can even attract lice. The most common orchid pest remains the mealybug. Diseases and pests can cause the plant to die quickly for no apparent reason.
To clean your orchid’s leaves quickly and effectively, there is a simple method: use wet wipes , which are used to change newborns’ diapers. Make sure you buy them with as few chemicals, fragrances, and more as possible. Disinfectant wipes used to clean parts of the bathroom, for example, are not recommended because in addition to being very perfumed, they can be very rich in chemical agents.
By using the cloths, not only does the dust on the leaves disappear, but they also become immediately shinier . Alternatively, you can use a solution of water, a few drops of lemon and some moisturizing oil, for example almond oil. This solution must be applied to the leaves with a cloth.
To stay healthy, the leaves must be dusted and cleaned at least once every two weeks, top and bottom .
