Wax has long been used to graft trees and shrubs. Ideally unites graft and rootstock, protects cuttings from dehydration during grafting, growth and storage.
To prepare wax for grafting, only two compounds are needed: this beekeeping product and ozokerite, which can be purchased at the pharmacy.
The composition should be 45% wax and 55% ozokerite. Melt them in a bain-marie until completely combined. After the resulting compound has cooled slightly, you can apply it to the fusion region of the graft participants. The wax contained in it acts as an insulating material and the ozokerite gives it elasticity.
In addition, the wax can be used to prepare garden lime, which contributes to the healing of wounds on trees.
Happy gardening!
