Sprouting potatoes in wet straw – for an early harvest!

Sprouting potatoes is an easy task. You just have to put them in a warm place and wait for the fangs to appear, right? What’s simpler? Most gardeners do it this way. And we want to offer you another interesting way of sprouting potatoes, which allows the tubers to take root immediately after planting. It involves letting the potatoes germinate in boxes, under wet straw.

YOU NEED:

-a plastic case;

-pay;

-Water;

-potatoes.

PROCEDURE:

1.Cover the bottom of a plastic crate with wet straw.

2.Place the potatoes you want to sprout on the straw layer.

3.Place another layer of wet straw on the potatoes.

Due to heat, darkness and humidity, potatoes quickly shed white fangs. But, unlike the dry method of germination, the wet one causes the simultaneous appearance of roots. In 2-3 weeks a bushy, powerful root system appears on each tuber.

This way you will be able to plant tubers with already developed root systems, which means you will save the time needed for root formation, get an early potato crop (2-3 weeks earlier) and avoid many diseases of that crop.

It is important to remember that tubers with developed roots must be planted in already thawed and warmed soil!!
