How to plant avocado at home, starting from a seed, to have an infinite supply

Avocado  is a delicious and irresistible food, versatile enough to add to a wide variety of preparations or eat alone (add a tablespoon of olives and a pinch of salt, yay!). However, being a tropical vegetable, it is often difficult to find in the supermarket, and its cost can be high.Ezoic

Below we explain  how to plant avocado at home  , starting from its seed. It is a very simple operation, which can save us a lot of money. Not to mention the satisfaction of eating a home-grown vegetable.

The first thing to do is extract the seed from the avocado  , without cutting or breaking it. Once the seed has been washed, to remove any residue from the plant, and having dried it carefully, it is necessary to proceed to prepare the soil.Ezoic

Some seeds are triangular in shape, while others are more spherical. But they all have a lower part (where the roots will come from) and an upper part. It is important to determine the end from which the roots will emerge, since this is the one that should be submerged in water.

Insert toothpicks into the sides of the seed and place it in a glass of water (the bottom should be completely submerged, see photo).

Germinate the seed for 3-6 weeks. Once this period has passed, a sprout will have grown at the top of the seed and roots at the bottom.Ezoic

When the stem reaches 6 to 8 inches tall, cut it in half to encourage new growth. Finally, move the plant to a larger pot by making a hole in the center of the pot to place the plant.
