Let’s face it, when we cook we mainly clean the hob, but we often completely forget about its components!
Wrongly, because in addition to the plates it is essential to clean the stove burners. These are materials where rust can form very easily. And it is often very laborious to remove!
These components are also called hob burners or flame spreaders.
Now let’s see how to clean them correctly!
With vinegar and water
You can clean burners and griddles with white vinegar , which is not only used in the kitchen, but also everywhere in the house!
Heat 300 ml of water and 700 ml of white vinegar on the stove. When the mixture is boiling, turn off the heat, then immerse the plates and stove. Leave to soak.
When the water has cooled, remove them from the mixture and, if necessary, sponge them to remove residual stains. After this step, dry.
With sodium bicarbonate
Another cleaning ally is undoubtedly sodium bicarbonate ! Often acclaimed for cleaning various parts of the home, it is also used for stoves and griddles.
Heat a pan of water and bring to the boil. Then add 4 tablespoons of baking soda and let it dissolve.
Immerse the objects and leave them to act for a few hours. This will make the stain softer and easier to remove later!
With citric acid
Citric acid is increasingly popular for cleaning, especially in the washing machine for washing clothes.
Here too it can make a difference!
Prepare a solution with 150 grams of citric acid and 1 liter of boiling water. Pour onto stove or griddle. Leave to soak for about an hour.
Subsequently, if the stains have disappeared, dry them carefully with a cotton cloth.
With fine salt
The last solution is fine salt. Its abrasive action can remove stubborn stains and help get your burners and griddles looking like new again!
The procedure, even in this case, is always the same: in a saucepan with boiling water and three tablespoons of salt, soak the components for at least an hour.
For stubborn dirt
The above methods may be enough in some cases to remove all the dirt. But when the stain is more resistant, then the most stubborn dirt must be removed. After soaking the plates, use a non-abrasive sponge and rub vigorously until everything is removed. Then rinse and dry each part well as remaining water can create rust.
