Did you know that you can grow fruit and vegetables at home from the seed of the fruit eaten? It seems impossible and yet it takes very little care and a lot of patience to start seeing the first results. The most important thing is without a doubt to never leave the pulp attached to the seed which could generate mold. Let’s see how to do it.
It doesn’t mean that those who don’t have a garden and live in the city have to give up living immersed in the countryside and growing fruit plants. In fact, not everyone knows that some species can be grown at home, by planting the seeds or kernels in a vase to be placed on the balcony or terrace.
Here are the fruit trees you can grow at home.
Apple tree
The apple tree is one of the easiest fruit trees to keep at home, because there are some dwarf versions and it resists over time. If cared for properly, it can bear fruit for years.
Taking care of it is very simple: the vase must be changed once a year and the water must be poured more frequently only in the hottest periods; in winter you can water the plant even once every two weeks.

There are also several dwarf varieties of the pear tree that favor its cultivation in the garden. Its roots grow expanding to the sides: for this, you need to use a deep and wide enough pot.
Use warm soil rich in nutrients, but avoid stagnation under the pot. Place it towards the sun, as the pear tree grows more lush when exposed to heat.
FIG
Speaking of fruit trees to grow on the balcony, the fig is also ideal. This plant also needs sun and heat to grow at its best. Keep it away from low temperatures, especially in the winter months.
Make sure the soil in the pot is fertile and not particularly moist.
Peach
The peach tree is an ideal tree to plant in mild climate areas, as it requires heat, but not direct sun. Make sure that temperatures never drop excessively: this plant would not survive too cold temperatures.
Choose particularly fertile soil and remember to prune the plant every year.
Lemon
The first secret to making the lemon tree grow properly is to choose a pot of the right size, so that the roots can expand freely.
The soil must be porous, fertile and well drained, so as to be moist and not excessively wet.
The lemon plant tolerates temperatures no lower than 15 degrees, so it is advisable to keep it sheltered during the winter.
Strawberry tree
Strawberries can also be grown on the balcony or terrace. Know, however, that you will have to arm yourself with a lot of patience. In fact, in order for it to grow healthy and luxuriant, this plant needs to be exposed half a day to the sun and half a day to the shade. Therefore, remember to move it frequently.
In general, however, never leave it in direct contact with high temperatures, but prefer a cool climate.
As for the soil, make sure its composition is acidic.
Pomegranate
The pomegranate is a colorful and sugary fruit. To ensure that the plant from which it derives grows healthy and strong, after planting the seeds, soak the soil with water and expose the pot to the sun.
Very important: remember to keep the plant away from temperatures that are too cold, because it may not survive.
The first shoots will be visible after about 20 days.
Mango
Growing a mango at home requires a lot of patience but the process is really simple.
Once you have extracted the seed from the fruit, remove the skin and clean it thoroughly. Take a sheet of absorbent paper and moisten it, without using too much water. Wrap the seed in paper and place it in a plastic container. Once the container has been hermetically sealed, leave it in the dark for about three weeks: once the necessary time has passed, you will see new roots emerge.
You can insert up to three seeds into the container at a time: a greater number would not allow the plants to grow with the right space available.
Avocado
To grow avocado, you can use either a plastic bottle or a toothpick.
If you use a plastic bottle, just cut it in half and fill it with water; the avocado seed must be immersed in water with the widest part facing downwards. Remember to add water every time it is absorbed by the plant and to make sure it is always facing the sun.
If you use toothpicks, you will have to insert one on each side of the seed and fix the structure on a plastic cup, making sure that the lower part of the seed is immersed in the water.
Cherry tree
One of the most beautiful plants to keep in the garden or on the balcony is the cherry tree. In addition to bearing delicious fruit, in fact, this plant gives fragrant and beautiful flowers, ideal for decorating the terrace or balcony.
The cherry tree tolerates low temperatures well, while exposing the plant to excessive heat is not recommended. Also, check that stagnation does not form in the saucer.
Pineapple
Pineapple can also be grown at home. In particular, it finds its natural habitat in an area with a mild climate.
The soil must always be moist and fertilized: water the plant at least once a week and add new fertilizer once every two weeks.
Mandarin
Mandarin trees are ideal for those who have a very spacious balcony or terrace, as the roots tend to expand and it is therefore necessary to use a very large pot.
The soil must always be well drained, never too wet or too dry. Also, make sure that the plant is always exposed to the light.
Medlar
Even the medlar can be grown on the balcony, provided you choose the dwarf variety, which does not exceed two meters in height.
The ideal climate for this fruit tree is mild: remember to keep it protected from bad weather and not expose it to particularly cold temperatures, because it would be affected.
Apricot
Apricot trees are demanding trees, as they require special care.
First, worry about the climate: it must always be mild. Better not to expose these plants to wind or severe frost.
As for the soil, always keep it warm, light and fertile.
Raspberry
An ideal plant for those who live in a warm place is that of the raspberry. If the temperatures are too low, you can cover it with a cloth, as it needs heat, but not direct light.
Remember to water the soil often, especially when it is particularly hot. Furthermore, check that it is always fertile and well fertilized.
